Welcome to Ballooning Art 2024. At 8:44 am MT on January 23, I began uploading my AI renditions of special-shaped hot air balloons to my 2024 AI Art Attack album on my Facebook profile. Four of my ballooning friends asked me which program I use to generate the AI art I have been sharing with my friends and followers, as well as members of the Balloon Talk group I manage on Facebook.
While I have been testing different AI art apps since November 2022, I have focused on DALL-E 3 for the past couple of months, using both ChatGPT Plus and Microsoft Bing Create. It was my friend Henry Rosenbaum, balloon pilot and owner of the “Tiny the Fire Dog” special shape, who inspired me to see what I could come up with for my first special-shape prompt attempts. I used both ChatGPT Plus/DALL-E-3 and Bing Create/DALL-E-3 for the test. Here are the prompts I used:
- 1st run- “cartoon Dalmatian as a Fire Chief, flying in a hot air balloon over Albuquerque.”
- 2nd run – “cartoon Dalmatian Fire Chief as a special-shape hot air balloon
By default, DALLE-3 renders two square images, 1024×1024 pixels. You can add “wide format” to the beginning of your prompts to get a 1792×1024 pixel landscape image.
