L'Espérance Pigeon Post Service Souvenir Card

One of two greeting cards depicting the transporting of messages in and out of Paris (Siege of Paris) from the north of France during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871. The first dispatch was on September 27, 1870 from Tours, France; the balloon and pigeons reached Paris on October 1st. L'Espérance was the name of the pigeon-fanciers' club responsible for supplying the pigeons.
